Professor Samar Khatiwala, Linacre GB Fellow and and Professor of Earth Sciences, has recently won the 2017 Yan-Kit So Award for Food Writers on Asia.

Hosted by The Oxford Cultural Collective, the prestigious award recognises an emerging writer who has the ability to enhance our understanding and appreciation of Asian food culture. With the prize money, Samar plans to travel to Gujarat in Western India where he will seek inspiration for a Gujarati cookbook. 

New Academic Exchange Agreement

The College has signed an agreement with Ochanomizu University, Tokyo, Japan, for academic exchange, including both staff and students.

The agreement was signed by the Linacre Principal and the President of Ochanomizu University, Professor Kimiko Murofushi, in Oxford, during a visit by the President and other staff.

Ochanomizu University was established in 1875 as Japan’s first national higher education institution for women. Today, the University, which takes only female students, is a pioneer in promoting women’s leadership in science and the arts.
