Who invented the tango? The Argentinians? Well...Uusikuu are one of the most interesting and original interpreters of the rare and rather special genre, the Finnish tango. Uusikuu revisits the haunting and melancholy Finnish rhythms and melodies from the 1930s to 1960s, but their repertoire does not include only tangos, but also fun and fast humppas, dreamy waltzes, and sleek and sophisticated foxtrot and swing numbers that will bring a smile to your face.
Welcome on a very special sepia-tinted musical journey with thrilling tangos, cheeky foxtrots and melancholy melodies of heartbreak and hope! We are thrilled to work together with the Linacre College tonight.
Uusikuu celebrates their 10th anniversary with the new album "Suomi-Neito" (Nordic Notes).
The evening is also the launch event of the new collaboration with the Oxford-based physical theatre company Justice in Motion.
