Pregnancy, children, and resources for families

One of Linacre’s strengths is its multifaceted diversity, which includes many members who come to the University with a wide variety of family situations and structures. Our position as a graduate college means that many of our students have long-term committed partners, children, or both.

The Linacre Common Room have put together a Family Resources: Quick Guide which is available as a PDF or Word format. This guide can help you and your family find the resources you need to kick-start your Oxford experience and get active in our wonderful international graduate community as soon as possible.

The Oxford University Newcomers’ Club  is a volunteer organisation for newly-arrived partners of graduate students and visiting scholars, and of newly appointed academics.  They hold coffee mornings and events.

There is some support for student parents from the University and from the Oxford University Student Union (Oxford SU). See here  and here

If you have any questions about pregnancy, children or other family issues, you can contact Dr Laura Rival or Dr Jane Hoverd.

If an unforeseen family problem causes you financial difficulties, you can apply to the Linacre House Trust  for hardship funding in the form of a grant or loan.
