In the tradition of lavish Oxford balls, Linacre Ball is a biannual black tie event at which students from all colleges can celebrate together for a night of elegance and glamour. The ball is entirely run by Linacre students who take time out of their busy academic schedules to provide their peers with an enjoyable reprieve from work, if only for a few hours.

This year’s theme of “Casablanca,” the iconic Old Hollywood film, pervaded every aspect of the event, from Moroccan food and décor to 1940’s jazz and retro drinks. The live music line-up kept guests enraptured all night, featuring the Wykeham Wanderers, the New Men, Fish Tank, Jake Downs, the Infamous Flapjack Affair, Garfunkel, and more. Partygoers stayed energized by feasting on falafel, chicken wraps, hog roast, crepes, French pastries, and breakfast treats while dancing away until 5 a.m. A prosecco reception, followed by an array of themed cocktails, added sophistication to the evening, and attendees sipped their beverages before a neon Rick’s Café sign and a hand-painted vintage map of Africa. Others smoked shisha in the back garden surrounded by Moroccan lanterns and pillows.
