Substantial Endowment Secures Chair for the History of Science

Linacre Fellow Professor Rob Iliffe was appointed Chair of the History of Science in 2016, but thanks to a large endowment by an anonymous benefactor, the chair has now been secured in perpetuity. This is one of two chairs that has been generously supported to bridge the gap between the Arts and Sciences. Professor Iliffe has a specialist interest in the history of early modern science and technology, and in the history of the relations between science and religion.
