Leaving a legacy, bequest or planned gift to Linacre is something that just about anyone can do, wherever you live in the world. We are committed to providing opportunities for highly talented students from around the world, regardless of their background or financial circumstances, so leaving a gift to College in your will is a very good way to provide a meaningful contribution to help the next generation of students to thrive.
You can support any aspect of College life with which you have a particular affinity. Historically legacy gifts have supported a range of areas including hardship, scholarships and our research support fund. Every legacy gift, of any size, makes a difference to us. Whether it endows a student scholarship, provides funding to students in times of need, enables a Junior Research Fellow to attend a conference, or boosts the College endowment for a more robust financial future. All gifts have a lasting impact.
Linacre College is a charity (1142130), so legacy gifts are exempt from Inheritance Tax. Leaving a gift in your will may also offer the opportunity to reduce the tax due on your estate. You may decide to leave a fixed sum to the College, a percentage of your estate, or the residue that remains when you have provided for your loved ones.
It is important to consult your legal adviser before drafting a new will, updating an existing one, or making other plans for your estate.

A will is very personal, and we understand if you prefer to keep your intentions private, however if you do wish to let us know about a gift in your will we will be delighted to be able to thank you personally and invite you to events of interest. In recognition of our supporters, all alumni and friends of the College who choose to leave a legacy to Linacre are invited become members of The Bamborough Circle. Each year we organise an event to show our appreciation to our Bamborough Circle members.
