Linacre alumna Dr Francisca Mutapi has been awarded a chair in Global Health Infection and Immunity at the University of Edinburgh.
Dr Mutapi began reading for her DPhil in Zoology in 1993 at Linacre, and following its completion carried out her postdoctoral training at the Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium. She has held several lectureship positions during her career to date, and in 2012 was elected as one of the 60 founding members of the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Young Academy. Since 2015 Dr Mutapi has also been a Fellow of the African Science Leadership Program, and Fellow of the African Academy of Science.
