Professor Samar Khatiwala, Linacre GB Fellow and and Professor of Earth Sciences, has recently won the 2017 Yan-Kit So Award for Food Writers on Asia.

Hosted by The Oxford Cultural Collective, the prestigious award recognises an emerging writer who has the ability to enhance our understanding and appreciation of Asian food culture. With the prize money, Samar plans to travel to Gujarat in Western India where he will seek inspiration for a Gujarati cookbook.

Samar is very passionate about cooking, and alongside his ‘day job’ at the University, also runs a blog about his culinary adventures. Find out more here: http://www.oishiirasoi.com/about/
