Linacre College has been invited to nominate one candidate for a Rhodes Global Scholarship. This new scholarship is for applicants worldwide who do not belong to any current Rhodes jurisdiction. This means that, for the first time, British undergraduates and other nationalities not previously eligible will be able to apply for a Rhodes Scholarship which will fund their full-time postgraduate study at Oxford University.

As there are only two Global Scholarships currently available, this will be the most competitive Scholarship that the Rhodes Trust will offer.

The Rhodes Selection Committee is looking for outstanding young women and men who are motivated to engage with the global challenges facing humankind, to ‘esteem the performance of public duties as their highest aim’, and to promote international understanding and peace. In short, the Committee seeks young people of outstanding intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service, who demonstrate a strong propensity to emerge as ‘leaders for the world’s future’, wherever their careers might take them, and in any field.

For further details, see:

Proven intellectual and academic quality of a very high standard is the first quality required of candidates. However, and just as important, they will also be required to demonstrate integrity of character, interest in and respect for their fellow human beings, the ability to lead, the energy to use their talents to the full and the desire to make an effective contribution to the world around them as described above.

If you would like to be nominated by Linacre College please send a letter of not more than 500 words to by Friday 15th June 2018 stating how you meet the selection criteria. Please use the subject “Rhodes Global Scholarship” for your email.
