Many of us at College have for a long time been impressed by Dr Catherine Walter, who has not only increased our understanding and awareness of equality and diversity issues, but is also a keen powerlifter. She is now in her early seventies, but that has not kept her from being crowned champion in the Masters 7 under-58.5kg category for squats, deadlifts and bench press. The Linacre Ladies that Lift, the powerlifting group she is associated with, recently launched a fundraising campaign, and that was the start of her story spreading across the nation. The most recent one is an interview with Catherine on the BBC.
