Linacre prides itself on being a varied community of students, Fellows and staff from a huge range of countries and backgrounds. We want to maintain this diversity in the future and we believe that our community can only be enriched further by it. We are therefore committed to continuing to improve opportunities for students from disadvantaged and under-represented backgrounds.
We are extremely proud to be able to take part in an exciting pilot programme, within the Academic Futures initiative, that is allowing us to offer 6 Academic Futures scholarships, starting in Michaelmas 2021. Linacre has partnered with the EPA Cephalosporin Fund and the Doctoral Training Centre to provide these fully funded Academic Futures scholarships for students studying for research degrees within the Life Sciences. The scholarships offer students financial support and an opportunity to pursue graduate study at Oxford that may not have otherwise been available to them. We hope to be able to expand this scholarship programme in the future.
We are also leading participants in the UNIQ+ summer programme of research internships. These internships are designed to introduce students from disadvantaged and under-represented backgrounds to graduate study and offer everyone who takes part a taste of Oxford life, as well as more tangible benefits in terms of confidence, skills and experience that will enhance both their CV and any future postgraduate applications.
