Our scholarships do not require a separate application, unless otherwise stated in the scholarship details, as all eligible candidates are considered with their initial application. It is however recommended that you familiarise yourself with the eligibility criteria, so that you are aware of the available opportunities.

AfOx-Linacre Scholarship
About the scholarship: The AfOx Linacre Scholarship has been enabled by Dr Keith Lloyd, the Rt Rev’d Carolyn Tanner Irish and the University of Oxford. It has been matched with the Mastercard Foundation Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) for the academic year 2025-2026. The Scholarship will be awarded to a gifted student from Africa.

About the scholarship: The Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholarship programme supports passionate, locally rooted and globally minded African people to undertake graduate studies at the University of Oxford. This scholarship also supports a placement after studies, with travel and visa logistics taken care of by AfOx.

AJ Hosier Scholarship
About the scholarship: Endowed by the A. J. Hosier Educational Fund, these two scholarships, set up in 1978, were designated for courses of advanced study and research in all aspects of agriculture. The Fund was set up in memory of Arthur Julius Hosier, a local farmer who made his fortune in developing new methods of milk production on poor downland soil. Following the closure of the Agriculture department at Oxford, the remit of the scholarships has been expanded to include other scientific areas, mainly biological sciences.

Braam Studentship
About the scholarship: The Braam Studentship will focus on addressing the physics of very large-scale carbon dioxide disposal, and the studentship holder will be a member of the Oxford Net Zero group.

Eligibility: The Studentship will be open to a candidate reading for a DPhil degree associated with the NERC Environmental Sciences Doctoral Training Partnership at the University of Oxford. Not available for the 2025/26 academic year.

Brewer Street Scholarship
About the scholarship: The Brewer Street Scholarship was set up by former residents of Linacre accommodation in Brewer Street. Although the buildings are no longer in use by Linacre, this scholarship ensures that the Brewer Street name lives on in perpetuity. It is awarded on a competitive basis to an outstanding student who has gained a place at Oxford University. The scholarship is tenable for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a further two years, subject to fee liability and satisfactory academic progress.

Eligibility: For students on any taught or research courses within the department of Engineering. Not available for the 2025/26 academic year.

Canadian Alumni Scholarship
About the scholarship: The Canadian Alumni Scholarship is generously donated by Canadian Alumni of Linacre. This continual support gives Canadian students an opportunity to flourish in their academic journeys at Linacre.
Value: £3,800
Eligibility: For students studying any taught or research course in any subject whose ordinary residence is Canada.

Carolyn and Franco Gianturco Scholarship in Theoretical Chemistry
About the scholarship: This scholarship was set up by alumna Carolyn Gianturco (1967) and alumnus Franco Gianturco (1965) to support talented students at Linacre. Carolyn was a prominent musicologist and an authority on the life and music of Alessandro Stradella. Franco is Professor of Quantum Chemistry at the University of Innsbruck. They have long been active members of the Linacre Italian Society. The scholarship is tenable for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a further two years, subject to fee liability and satisfactory academic progress.

Eligibility: For students studying at any level Theoretical Chemistry. This is not available for the 2025/26 academic year.

Carolyn and Franco Gianturco Music
About the scholarship: This scholarship was set up by alumna Carolyn Gianturco (1967) and alumnus Franco Gianturco (1965) to support talented students at Linacre. Carolyn was a prominent musicologist and an authority on the life and music of Alessandro Stradella. Franco is Professor of Quantum Chemistry at the University of Innsbruck. Dapo Olagunju Scholarship
About the scholarship: The scholarship has been funded by Mr Dapo Olagunju (2005) who himself studied for an MBA when he was at Linacre, and is currently Managing Director for J P Morgan, West Africa. The scholarship is the sixth available for African students at Linacre, and is the first scholarship to be funded from Africa itself.

Edmund J Crampin Scholarship
About the scholarship: The Edmund J Crampin Scholarship is for students studying for a DPhil in subjects of computational, mathematical, or systems biology.

Giacomo Vaciago Scholarship
About the scholarship: This schoalrship was established in memory of alumnus Giacomo Vaciago (1965).

Eligibility: For students studying for any level of study in any subject that addresses environmental concerns. This scholarship is not available in 2025/26.

Linacre Anthropology Scholarship
About the scholarship: We thank the twenty-two alumni, mainly Anthropologists, who have enabled this endowed Scholarship. The Linacre Anthropology Scholarship was jointly created by a group of supportive Linacre alumni and friends of College. The scholarship is tenable for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a further two years, subject to fee liability and satisfactory academic progress.

Linacre EPA Cephalosporin Scholarship
About the scholarship: Thank you to the EPA Cephalosporin fund who have awarded this scholarship in partnership with the Doctoral Training Centre. It is tenable for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a further two years, subject to fee liability and satisfactory academic progress.

About the scholarship: This scholarship was set up in 2022 and is generously funded by alumnus Hua Guo (2005) who completed an MSc in Education before going on to establish Nosce Education.

Madge Adam Scholarship
About the scholarship: This scholarship was created by Linacre alumni in honour of pioneering women like Madge Adam. Dr Adam was the first in a long line of postgraduate research students in Solar Physics at Oxford, and later she became internationally known for her work on the nature of sunspots and their magnetic fields.
Continuing Linacre’s founding commitment to equality, this scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis to an outstanding female student who has gained a place at the University of Oxford to study a post-graduate degree in science.

Mary Blaschko Wolfson Scholarship
About the scholarship: This scholarship is endowed by the estate of Mary Blaschko who was an Honorary Fellow of Linacre and a keen supporter of education.

About the scholarship: This scholarship was created in memory of alumnus Christopher Brooks (1971) who was a leading historian of early modern England, with an international reputation for world-class research on English society, constitutional history, and the common law of England.
