Linacre College is seeking a Student Library Assistant to help with the daily running of the College Library. The successful applicant will support library projects, maintain the Gilbert Ryle Special Collection, and ensure the library is a welcoming and productive space for students. This is a flexible, casual role, with hours arranged weekly with the Library Team.

  • Hourly Rate: £12.49 (paid monthly in arrears upon submission of timesheets)

  • Eligibility: You must be a current Linacre College student.
  • Continuing Members, students granted leave to supplicate, or those nearing course completion are not eligible.

About the Role:

The Linacre College Library team is small, collaborative, and dedicated to providing a high-quality library service for the College’s diverse student community. You will work closely with the Librarian and Library Assistant, who will provide guidance and training to help you succeed in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with shelving, book moves, labelling, and other library projects.
  • Support cataloguing and basic conservation of the Gilbert Ryle Special Collection.
  • Act as a link between students and library staff.
  • Help with library events and displays.

About You:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Linacre student who enjoys working as part of a team and engaging with others. A confident and effective communicator with a genuine interest in library work and in supporting fellow students. The applicant should have strong IT skills with attention to detail and be physically capable of handling tasks such as lifting and carrying (reasonable adjustments will be provided if needed).
