Library Collections

One of the key objectives of the Linacre Library is to provide the College community with a wide range of materials that are consistent with the ethos of the College, our academic disciplines, and the research and information needs of our students and staff.

The Library needs to be a supportive and non-intimidating environment, and the Library team want to be as approachable and for our collections to be as accessible as possible. In a small College, the Library also has an important role in our overall student welfare support.

We are aiming to make the interdisciplinary collection as relevant as we can, and to update the holdings more generally. We are hoping to do this by concentrating on subjects that are central to Linacre members, such as environment and sustainability, but also to strengthen the connection between events and lectures taking place in college and the publications stocked in the library. For example, we have purchased speaker texts from the ‘Uncovering Women’s History’ Linacre lecture series which explored women’s empowerment and the contribution of women across history.

There are also important central themes that we have started expanding such as welfare, diversity, LGBTQ+, women, disability, and under-represented and collected groups. The Linacre Library collections need to be correlated to the diverse and varied community at Linacre.
We purchased over 250 titles last academic year, in a very wide collection of subjects, but with your support we could expand our scope even further and provide the very best possible resources to the current and future Linacre students.
